Griffith University offers opportunities for long-term aged care residents who are lonely and isolated to participate in activities that connect them with 3rd year students studying and interested in the challenges confronting the elderly. One of the services involves students individually spending 1 to 2 hours per week meeting with their resident and recording their life story/biography over an 8-10 week period.

The Pyjama Foundation

We provide children in out of home care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence. We recruit, screen, train and support volunteers (learning mentors) who are matched with a child in care, spending time with them once a week, focusing on learning-based activities. Volunteers read books, play educational games and help children with their homework. Most importantly, the volunteers give children in out of home care a chance to reach their life potential. Mount Gravatt Community Centre offers services and support to families and individuals living in Mt Gravatt and surrounding suburbs. Southside Community Care Inc.

Southside Community Care Inc. is a Specialist Homelessness Service providing crisis supported accommodation to homeless families. Our Family Support Workers assist tenants to develop a case management plan supporting them to address the issues surrounding their homelessness. A holistic approach is taken to support families to obtain long term affordable housing which includes practical support such as transport, brokerage, food assistance, budgeting and emotional support, as well as strong advocacy within the relevant government systems including Housing, Health & Medical, Child Safety, Legal and Social (Centrelink). We manage 16 crisis accommodation properties with a small staff of 4 part time employees and a small number of dedicated volunteers.

Northwest Community Group Inc

We support people experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. We do this through 3 x stands per week where we give out clothing, toiletries, blankets, tents, sleeping bags, air matresses etc.

We also run a program to help people who have gone from homelessness to housing, to help them get items they need to make their house a home.

Our young people are predominantly from disadvantaged backgrounds and experience a range of social barriers; including mental health & wellbeing issues that impact on their capacity to participate and engage in education.

Kurbingui Youth Development Ltd

Kurbingui Youth & Family Development Limited was established in 2001 primarily to provide and promote physical activities in the form of boxing as a means to developing strong, healthy and positive lifestyles for young people. Mr Syl Johns was the driving force behind this program, however he soon realised that there were more complex issues for these young people that required personal support and guidance. To address some of these issues, the “Yeaca Dhargo” Employment Program was born under the auspice of Mercy Family Services for the first year, and then transferred to the newly incorporated Kurbingui Youth Development Limited in 2001.

Royal Flying Doctor Service Queensland Section

RFDS QLD operates 19 aircraft from nine operational bases located in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Charleville, Mount Isa, Longreach and Roma.

The RFDS's emergency retrieval service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, delivering the finest care to more than 290,000 Australians each year, that's one person every two minutes. This iconic service has expanded to provide regular transfers of patients for life-saving surgery such as organ transplants and heart surgery, delivering critical support to those who need it most.

The RFDS also delivers a broad range of essential health care services to rural and remote communities, including general practice, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, child and family health, social and emotional wellbeing, women's health and Drought Wellbeing Services.
