Single dad of twins lost power, food & income during cyclone. Denied grant—needs help to recover and feed his family.
2025 Tropical Cyclone Alfred
GIVIT
This single father of teenage twins is doing his best to stay afloat after a recent natural disaster turned his life upside down. When the cyclone hit, he lost power at his home in Tallai for eight days. During that time, all the food in his fridge and freezer spoiled—an expensive loss for anyone, but especially hard for a self-employed parent already living on a tight budget.
As the primary caregiver with minimal support from the children’s mother, he not only lost vital food supplies but also the income he would have earned during that period. In the chaos of trying to recover and catch up on bills, he missed the narrow window to apply for an emergency grant. He tried another avenue for support through Services Australia but was denied.
Despite everything, he remains committed to caring for his kids and getting back on his feet. A little support right now could go a long way in helping him provide some essentials for his family as they continue to recover.
