Tools provided for East Gippsland bushfire recovery

More than 300 homes and/or sheds were lost during the devastating summer bushfires in East Gippsland, Victoria.

Now, for many residents, there’s a mammoth task of cleaning up and rebuilding ahead. But with sheds, tools and equipment destroyed in the fires, tool kits are needed to help them get started.

In response, ‘Sponsor a Bushfire Recovery Kit’ program was created locally to provide people with the tools they need to rebuild. Each kit contains vital equipment sourced from Traralgon H Hardware and several hardware stores across East Gippsland.

Individuals, service organisations and businesses donated thousands of dollars to buy the tools. GIVIT’s Engagement Officer, Lisa Herbert, was in town to contribute by using GIVIT donated funds to purchase 10 tool kits, worth a total $3300.

The week prior Lisa had also purchased tools to help make another seven tool kits, to help other locals doing it tough.

You can help people recovering from the Black Summer Bushfires by donating via our Bushfire Appeal.
