If you want to donate whitegoods or donate furniture (or any good quality item) the quickest, easiest and most effective way for you to donate your item is to donate towards an existing request on the what's needed page.
On the GIVIT what's needed list you can donate items to homelessness shelters, women's refuges, families impacted by natural disasters and more. You can search the what's needed list by:
- Using the filters to search and see if there's an organisation that needs your item.
- Filling out the form if you'd like to donate towards that request.
- You'll be connected directly with the organisation that's placed the request to finalise how to get the item to them.
If you don't see a request near you for the item you're donating on the what's needed page, you can use the form on this page to offer it on GIVIT's online warehouse. This doesn't mean you've donated the item. It means that the 4,700 support organisations registered with GIVIT around Australia can view your item, and connect with you if they need it.
If you've agreed with the charity to drop off your item, please give the item to a representative from the charity, and don't leave the item outside or on the verandah or doorstep for collection as it may be damaged or stolen.
Some support organisations may be able to pick up items from your home. However many organisations don't have the means or resources to pick up or store items. Click here for a list of items needed right now by organisations that may be able to collect from your home.
Your donation is more likely to be needed if you're able to offer to drop it to an organisation near you. Alternatively, you can offer to post or courier it to the organisation.
GIVIT does not pick up, sort or store donated items. GIVIT is the platform you're using to connect with someone who needs your charitable donation.
There is no guarantee that the item(s) you're offering to donate will definitely be needed.
Your donation hasn't been accepted yet because no support organisations have yet indicated that they require it.
You can also search the what's needed list to see if there is an existing request for the item you wish to donate.
Your donation may not be accepted straight away, and in some cases may not be required at all.
You're able to list your donation on GIVIT's online warehouse for up to three months. This will increase the chances of your item being required.
Once your donation has been accepted, you'll receive an email from GIVIT with the details of the organisation that has accepted your donation. The organisation will receive a similar email with your details. Please feel free to get in touch with the organisation directly to finalise the exchange of the item.
You can complete the form on the contact us page, or email GIVIT directly on info@givit.org.au.
