Noffs Foundation's Street University gets a coffee machine to help upskill at-risk teenagers
Who would have thought the simple act of making a good coffee could build confidence and create skills to get young people out of a rut. The generous act of donating a coffee machine has helped some young people turn their lives around, creating a skill and ability to enter the workforce that helps build confidence. Through a team effort between local industry, Street University and GIVIT – these young kids have a bright future.
Important work helping disengaged youth
Noffs Foundation does a tremendous job of supporting vulnerable young people. Their broad outreach includes treatment for drug and alcohol problems, and support for people affected by mental ill-health and homelessness. They work with young Indigenous Australians, as well as those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. They also supported teenagers and young people affected by domestic and family violence.
Their Street University Program provides workshops and activities that incorporate art, music, dance, theatre, multi-media, writing, life skills development and technology and design in highly visible, youth-friendly venues. They also deliver vocational and educational workshops and programs to further education. The Street University movement aims to re-connect with the community cultivate social inclusion of young people.
