This woman's unit was flooded and she had to escape DV. While legal wrangles continue, she seeks stability for her four kids.
This 42 year old single parent cares solely for her four young children, 13, 8, 2.5 and 4 months. She feels, and is, desperate. She has been homeless for a year (in six months she moved 11 times), and has a history of sustained physical and psychological domestic violence. Her unit was flooded in 2022 leaving it totally uninhabitable with all the family’s goods destroyed. The body corporate and insurance company are refusing to pay for repairs and Legal Aid refused her application. Amidst the legal wrangles she made the difficult decision to leave the relationship, days before the birth of her baby. She receives the single parents benefit and family tax benefit, plus $350 a month from the children’s father. Currently the body corporate is paying for her short-term rentals, but there is no guarantee of it continuing. She has money for food and petrol, but can't afford to replace the family's personal effects. She is desperate to provide stability and a safe haven for her children
