‘Tools for Townsville Drive’ – Queenslanders nail it!

Following the devastating monsoonal trough in 2019, the TradeTools Group set up the ‘Tools for Townsville Drive’ to help hard-hit Australians rebuild their lives and livelihoods. Witnessing the devastation, CEO Jeremy Stewart and his team sprung into action to help Queenslanders in need:

“We collected tools from around our stores and put the call out to our suppliers, loyal customers, and the public to donate tools to help the people of Townsville rebuild their city and their homes.”

The company set up collection points for new and quality used tools at their 17 stores around Queensland. GIVIT helped by providing TradeTools the connections to the community and charity organisations helping people effected by the floods – they knew exactly who needed to replace tools destroyed by the floods, many whose income depend on these ‘ tools of the trade’. GIVIT Founder, Juliette Wright OAM, was overwhelmed by the generosity of TradeTools staff, suppliers, and customers:

“They really opened their hearts to the many flood-affected residents of Townsville who have lost the prized tools essential in this rebuilding phase of the disaster.”

Tradies and DIYers who lost tools picked up replacements at the North Townsville Community Hub. The manager, Sandra Elton, was awed by the range of new and used tools: saws, tiling and carpentry equipment, chainsaws, compressor units, and tool-boxes for professional and DIY use. Men’s Shed volunteers helped with the distribution, with measures in place to ensure items went to licensed tradies and those with evidence of loss or damage to their homes.

Mr. Stewart thanked TradeTools’ customers, the public, and suppliers, including, Makita, Milwaukee, Paslode, Lavor, Force, Renegade Industrial, and the Brisbane Broncos. He also expressed his gratitude to freight company Northline and GIVIT who assisted with the delivery and distribution:
