The Boss is coming back to Queensland
We're thrilled that our national fundraiser - the iconic Road Boss Rally - will be hitting outback Queensland in September, hoping to raise $250,000 for GIVIT!
One of the premier events on any Aussie car enthusiast's calendar, the Road Boss Rally will travel 4,668 kilometres across outback Queensland over 10 action-packed days in September* to raise money for GIVIT. Aiming to raise at least $250,000, the rally will navigate challenging back roads in remote Queensland from Roma to Mackay, via Cloncurry and the beautiful Lawn Hill National Park.
Planned during tough state and national COVID restrictions and lockdowns, rally founder and organiser Jamie Lawson says the 2021 rally is one of the most significant rallies in the 20 years he's been organising motoring events.
"We held a low-key rally last year due to the pandemic, and then COVID restrictions meant we postponed our recent event in July, so we're thrilled to hopefully run our event in Queensland this year in September," said Jamie. "It's not easy running an event like this during these uncertain times, but we feel it's important to keep going, whilst ensuring keeping the health and wellbeing of participants top of mind, and being ready to make changes as required."
How does the rally help GIVIT?
There are heaps of ways to support GIVIT, and going on an adventure car rally is one of them! Entrants often say being involved an event that brings light, fun and economic support to regional communities is extremely rewarding.
During the Road Boss Rally's six-year partnership with GIVIT, they've raised more than $1 millions dollars to support our work in the community. It's had a massive, positive impact, with fundraising each year playing a critical role in keeping GIVIT's engine running, and the lights on. The annual donations goes a long way towards funding GIVIT's operations and administration costs, enabling donated funds from the public to go towards exactly where it's needed most.
The hard work of Jamie and his rally team means that, for example. when GIVIT set up a Bushfire Appeal, we're able to ensure Australians that 100% of their donation received by us goes directly to helping those in need.
This rally is more important than ever because we're raising money for GIVIT, which among other things, is supporting people impacted by the pandemic. It's been a tough 18 months for everyone so I'm just keen to get back on the road, raise some money and have fun along the way.
How can I join the rally this year?
150 people and 60 cars have so far registered for the 2021 rally. Anyone keen on a remote outback adventure through North West Queensland, including the stunning Lawn Hill Gorge (pictured above) can still get involved*.
"The Road Boss Rally passes through some spectacular scenery across outback Queensland, driving on back roads and remote tracks that most people don’t have the opportunity to see, so if you’re looking for an adventure this September head to the website and sign up. People in any type or age of car can enter the Road Boss Rally, as long as you’re up for a challenging adventure through the Aussie bush and outback tracks,” Jamie said.
The Road Boss Rally kicks off on 27th September in Roma and finished in Mackay on 7th October. To find out more and to sign up, head to www.roadbossrally.com.au.
